I am a food enthusiast and recreational sculptor. Some weeks, I am focused on cooking and eating; I eat almost anything, and I enjoy most of it. Other weeks are all about art and mobiles. I make abstract kinetic sculptures inspired by the work of Alexander Calder. One of my main concerns is balance of form and color. Feel free to inquire about any of the pieces shown here. In real life, I am a particle physicist.

Hirshhorn Museum

A wonderful discovery from my recent trip to Washington, DC: the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden. Lots of Henry Moore, Miro, and especially Calder. I also have a newfound appreciation of David Smith, whose work is more diverse than I realized. The pictures below were unfortunately taken on my cell phone -- I didn't realize I would have time for sightseeing, so I didn't bring my camera. The outdoor shots at the beginning are of the Hirshhorn Sculpture Garden, and the ones at the end are from the National Gallery Sculpture Garden, right across the Mall from the Hirshhorn.

Wow, those sculptures are amazing. Thank you for sharing them.

Have they inspired you for your work?

I read a quote on Friday night that reminded me of your work.

"The trees are God's great alphabet: With them He writes in shining green
Across the world His thoughts serene."

Thanks, Steve! That's a really interesting quote!
