Rooting for Inspiration

The next installment of my root vegetable graphic design series:

In case you're wondering, the background is a photomontage of an old dropcloth used for spray painting.

Winter Montages

To mark our rapid descent into winter, I made a couple photomontages of scenes around the house.

First is a closeup of our lawn mower's snowblower attachment:

which inspired this poem (sorry, Dr. Williams):

December 2010 Events

So, I'm managing to keep busy, even without being in the Holiday Spirit Store this year. Hope to see you at one of these two events next week!

  • Dec. 7 @ 7 PM: Science Cabaret, Delilah's on Cayuga (formerly Wildfire), Ithaca, NY. Come for dinner and drinks as I give a free informal talk on the physics of mobiles. To be followed by a fundraiser for Light in Winter, in which participants will get to make their own mobiles -- they make great holiday gifts! Click here to register for the fundraiser. Also, check out this short interview I did for the LIW blog. Finally, thanks to Evan Clayburg for the brilliant poster design.

  • Dec. 11 @ 11 AM - 5 PM: Holiday Artists' Market, Women's Community Building at 100 W. Seneca St., Ithaca, NY. Organized by the Community Arts Partnership. I will have a new batch of upcycled mobiles (see here for last year's edition), as well as large canvas prints of my recent digital work.
